Game History: Among those first to arrive on the Ryslig Peninsula, Naomi awakened just as dazed and confused as many others, fished from the ocean and brought to the hospital in the coastal town named Vandare. She was covered in unexplained injuries that required treatment and was also informed of a peculiar foreign pathogen inside her body. Though perturbed at the news, she waited until she was discharged and left to her own devices in order to begin trying to find cure for herself and the others similarly infected, using supplies she soon obtained working as a private doctor for one of the many native residents in Vandare.

Just as strange as her arrival, soon more bizarre occurrences began on the peninsula, starting with the first heavy fog. In it, the people of Vandare became frozen - asleep but almost in death. Meanwhile, a voice (later revealed to be the Fog God) spoke to Naomi and the others, telling them to do as they wish at this time. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it at first, but it was quickly understood that those who were unaffected were all the arrivals and it concerned the doctor as to what might happen next as the fog burned away and the residents of the world began to move once more.

Answers were, of course, attempted to be found after going into the Lager Woods upon request of the Mayor in order to locate missing local workers, but it was to no avail. Lost in the woods herself for an evening, Naomi came to a clearing with many others beneath the moonlight where inhaling too much of the fog could turn any of them violent. Fortunately, whomever trapped them (a creature later revealed to be Tikbalang) eventually released them, but only for many of the Vandare residents regard them with a foreshadowing fear.

Back at her temporary residence, Naomi resumed her work in finding a cure for the infection ailing them all. However, despite her efforts, it wasn't fast enough to stop what occurred just a little under two weeks later.

When a heavy fog engulfed the peninsula for a second time, the changes began to occur.

While wandering the cemetery, Naomi was struck by her own transformations, finding herself bearing multiple eyes and suddenly, walking upon eight spider legs. Oddly enough, only those who arrived on the peninsula - aka anyone not native - seemed to progressively begin to change. She was only so fortunate to not receive the worst of the transformation issues - that of feeding on humans. Not that she would be able to avoid it forever, the alarming rate of transformations and the new natures that they brought with them, Naomi switched her focus, dedicating herself to studying each monster change, documenting them, and then, searching for the cure further still while opening her medical practices to everyone.

Unfortunately, if only that was the end.

Until the changes were complete, with each subsequent arrival of fog, the transformation would continue. Naomi herself moved from her housing in Vandare among people and set herself up in the cemetery, her transformations making her soon require human flesh just like the others. Since it wasn't part of her first transformation, she observed the others and learned that if this hunger for humans wasn't satisfied within a certain amount of time, each changed individual could lose control of themselves from starvation. They would become violent and attack anyone and everyone until their hunger was satiated. She even helped a boy named Neku Sakuraba before his hunger overrode his will, hunting for him and bringing back flesh for him to eat just in time.

It was shortly after fully becoming an arachne that it seemed the process began to repeat itself: that of people arriving on the peninsula and pouring into the hospital back in Vandare proper. What changed between the first group that Naomi arrived with and the second group though was that Naomi's batch, consumed by hunger in the next fog, proceeded to hunt their fellow arrivals. As the others hunted, Naomi sequestered herself away into her cemetery again only to come out when Neku came seeking her aid, two of his friends (Beat and Joshua) who recently arrived gravely injured by a girl-turned-wendigo, Xion. Naomi kept watched over them until the fog receded again, letting them go with warnings of the next fog possibly triggering the start of their first changes into monsters.

Sure enough, she found Joshua transforming outside her mausoleum shortly after the fog engulfed the peninsula again. Taking care of him first, they both headed out to locate Neku and Beat, coming upon the latter angered at the former just attempting to share their kill for the night. Taking them back to the cemetery, she sheltered them once more from the worst dangers in the fog - that being the other, more capable monsters on the hunt.

Evenings clear again, Naomi began to resume her research into each transformation onto the be interrupted by yet another sudden bank of fog and one of the more heinous tactics to make the arrivals consider staying. Her memories altered, Naomi was falsely made to believe she had a normal life with three sons on the peninsula and becoming a monster was naught but a dream. Until the Fog God made a plea to her to end the life of some impostor god did the alterations fail to hold, her memories and love for her actual daughter too strong to be contained. Similarly, the hold broke on her three 'sons': Neku, Beat, and Joshua.

With that failure, more unsuspecting individuals were brought to Ryslig through the God's powers and the cycle began to repeat again. This time, among the batch, someone familiar to Naomi - her Agent Navel aka Little Guy. How fortunate for her, and of course she would bring him up to speed on the strange nature of the peninsula.

Two deities at war with each other were interested in the arrivals and using them to fight their feud. The monster transformation were their 'gifts' and they further tried to lure each individual to join their respective sides through temptations of power and granting favors. Naomi, angered by both of them, refused to take a side or any part in their fight, her personal gripes with those that follow God or Gods providing enough strength to thwart any temptation. Such fortitude wouldn't protect her from any immediate issues the Gods would cause on her person like an incident that would later occur with Plaga's Peak or on Valentine's Day, but it would work enough that she avoided direct involvement.

With her small group somehow growing, it came time for Naomi to leave the cemetery; and once Little Guy's transformations started leaving him a little more capable of self-defense against other monsters, she made a move. Contacting Tikbalang of the forest, Naomi made a trade in order to have a Clinic built on the shores of Lake Dala between Vandare and the second city, Bavan. She would share it with a girl named Olette who wanted to see how more natural remedies like a monster spa would help in regards to transformation pains and the hunger.

Of course, moving and continuing to rebel against the gods and their trickery was all well and good, but the natives would eventually try to more heavily involve themselves for better or worse. From a far off town called Rota, humans arrived claiming yet another god they followed would be capable of turning the monsters back to normal. And at first, it seemed to work... until all who volunteered became chimeras driven insane by the numerous minds said 'cure' ended up melding together in each body. Naomi was skeptical of the cure working, but she did end up dealing with the chimera aftermath, even killing Beat's little sister, Rhyme, as an act of mercy.

Following the transgression, more outsiders arrived, more transformations occurred, and the Fog God and Fourth God proceeded to push more and more. Meanwhile, the humans began to push back against the monsters in the middle. Angered by the many Rotans killed trying to help, people from Rota came armed with chemicals capable of interrupting the monster's quick regenerative properties and also melt flesh. They were also accompanied by hunting parties out of both Vandare and Bavan tired of being hunted and eaten with each fog arrival. Among even them came a group with tools capable of putting monsters down permanently, and all set to capturing and taking monsters back to Rota to torture and kill.

Naomi, prepared by the hunters outright announcing their intent, locked up and barricaded the Clinic, turning it into a hold to protect monsters and any humans that didn't want to be involved. With her webbing, speed, and strength, she helped thwart many attempts and soon made her way to Rota only to see it on fire. Only a few monsters were still clinging to life in Rota, but the warning from both sides was received: monsters were now at the center of a fight between two gods and the native humans. If they wanted to go home alive, they would have to do what they could to survive. Naomi herself was set to continue doing her duties as a doctor, giving aid to those who needed it, and defending the few she cared about so they would survive too.

Alternate History: N/A

Personality: Few characters are more difficult to understand upon meeting than Naomi Kimishima. Generally cool and harboring a mysterious air, she's a woman of many secrets and talents that could be an ally or enemy given her extensive medical knowledge. Bearing sharp tongue and wit, she has a perchance of occasionally speaking rather cryptically, but can be very blunt when necessary. Her replies widely depend on her relationship with the individual she's addressing, with more jovial teasing used on friends and harsh sarcasm utilized on enemies.

Fortunately, beneath cold exterior is a more respectful and very insightful individual who's just led a long life of various misfortunes that tenaciously keeps going. Though forced to stray from the path of being a legal surgeon, Naomi is a person naturally concerned for others despite her attempts to hide it. During her time working for Delphi, she attempts to remain impartial during her operations, trying to focus solely on being paid and surviving, but in a case where she operates on a reporter in a collapsed tunnel with nothing more than a penlight and camera flash sheds light on her true nature. She didn't need to save that reporter's life at all - a reporter who sought to use her besmirched reputation as a surgeon to get his own fame - but she did.

Upon being diagnosed with her terminal illness, she tries detaching herself from any living connections in 'Trauma Team', resigning herself to her inevitable death and attempting to avoid causing anyone suffering with her passing. Though she still concerns herself with the living, she does so through the dead at this time. Her Healing Touch - once meant to save lives - allows her to also receive calls from those who passed on and whose deaths were a mystery being close to death as well. And with those final calls, Naomi finds the truth behind people's passing to give them peace in the afterlife. She doesn't have to do this, but she chooses to. And once she involves herself in any case, she'll follow through until the end, no matter what consequences the journey might entail - be it a mad bomber or deadly virus.

During her time in Ryslig, though her morals are tested mainly by the dilemma to feed on human flesh and deal with the constant threats by both gods and hunters, she holds fast to what she can and does her best to make up where she's unable. Sure, she's reasonably shocked by her initial changes like anyone else, but her experience dealing with live or death situations caused by the likes of Delphi, GUILT, and the Rosalia Virus allowed her to adapt fast to the environment, taking up researching the various monster transformations and learning how to sparingly feed on a human so only one body could go a long way for herself or multiple monsters. She doesn't feel right about having to take human lives for survival, but her determination to find a way to help the other monsters made her steel her emotions - detaching herself regularly from the plight of the Ryslig natives - in order to act as needed for everyone's benefit. She may not fear the gods or dying herself, but that doesn't extend to everyone else.

With her coolness and professional air, Naomi became one of the go-to doctors in all of Ryslig, providing her more advanced medical and medicinal studies to save everyone's lives if and when possible. Her withdrawn nature kept most monsters at a distance, but regularly recommending her as a go-to individual for those who just arrived, began to transform, and/or fully changed and required aid or shelter. Of course, Naomi's more insightful side came out usually when caring for younger children and teenagers mentally unprepared for the strife in Ryslig, telling them the truth and doing what she could to prepare them for the inevitable. If they came back, she would continue serving as guidance and aid them, similarly to how she regularly supported Beat, Rhyme, Neku, and Joshua.

NOTE: For Melodies, Naomi does not keep her need to eat humans. However, she does have to maintain a high protein diet for her webs and monster form in general.
