May I have a moment of your time? I believe we've spoken once before at a certain party, but never introduce ourselves. I simply go by Disciple, and someone refer me to you to talk about my troublesome essence.
I was wondering if someone might. And if I'm to assume the essence in which you refer to, I have time to speak. I'm in the apothecary right now; perhaps you noticed the new one that appeared in the Index?
[The name...well it only seem fitting for her essence, he suppose. He'll waste no time leaving his home and heading directly for the Apothecary. Once he arrives, he gives the place a once over before entering the shop. There he'll linger by the door, closing it behind him and wait for Naomi to make her presence known. It's the first time he's actually been here though, so there was plenty of things for him to look at with curiosity.
It seem small, but the shop probably held some secrets and rooms that he can't see.]
[A few days have passed since the last Story Eater's attack and some normalcy had returned to the Index. Most of the city had been restored except for the occasional weeds still leftover. But that doesn't mean a thing to Hyde.
The self proclaim lord of destruction manages to take control over the Disciple in the middle of the night. His desire to seek a certain witch was strong enough overwhelm the other. So down to the apothecary he goes, making his presence known by smashing down the front door.] Where are you...?
[He rips at the top of the door frame so he didn't need to duck his head. Even then his large figure just barely got through. He could see no one in the main area besides the shelves of potions, the doorways to other rooms and a pool of water in the back. Those rows of potions seem to agitate him the most, as he turns his attention onto them. He proceeds to knock everything over, smashing through pieces of furniture in his way in the process.]
[As usual when Naomi doesn't have customers at the moment, she's in the back, swimming around her cauldrons brewing upon their warm vents in the water, taking stock notes of her ingredients that need to be resupplied later. She already lost a bit while the Story Eater was roaming around and many of them were asleep, but she could--]
[She looks up at the crashing occurring outside and likely in her apothecary.]
[... Well, she could've made due with what she had left, but from that sound, maybe not anymore. She wonders who it might be, thinks of an idea, but also wonders which shelf they might be breaking. Not every potion she had out there was safe. She would wait a few more minutes; besides, she needs to bottle this cauldron that's almost done.]
[The bottles shatter as the potions hit the floor, unknown liquids spilling out and mixing with each other. Hyde remains oblivious as he throws anything he could grab into other things.] You witch, come out here-!
[He tries to walk, but his right foot gets caught in something. Ice was forming around his leg when he looks down. Growling in frustration, he works to free himself. A moment later, there was a loud boom that made the building shake. Smoke was seeping out from the main room where an explosion had occurred. Hyde had been blasted into the back wall.] Ugh, dammit...! [He was still conscious, but for some reason his body wouldn't respond and move. He just felt numb all over.]
[Smoke drifting on her water, she'll put the stopper on her last bottle and finally swim up. Stepping out, she maintains her mermaid appearance a little longer before she dries, staring down at him with the usual silver hair and dress forming over her.]
Better after taking some of your aggression out on my few remaining wares? Honestly, how was smashing up an apothecary with unlabeled bottles a good idea?
Sometime after she'd gotten that reply in her journal, there'd be a knock at her door.
Outside, Dojima carrying the wooden box carefully in one gloved hand, and a leather satchel in the other.
"Kimishima, it's me."
Wow, even to him, his voice sounded... worn out. Swallowing back the dryness, he focused his eyes ahead, trying not to dwell too deeply on any of the thoughts flickering around, even if that was near impossible.
Raising her eyebrows at the knock, she turned and walked calmly over to the door. Oh, she heard his voice, but she was training her expression - she wanted to keep this normal, natural... sudden.
Opening the door, she looked at him, but then eyed the box she'd been messaged about in question. But looking back at him, she almost scowled.
"Inside, quick. I doubt it would be too abnormal to carry around a heart, but we don't want to raise panic anymore than needed."
Dojima was quick to enter, knocking his boots off at the entrance to get any access dirt off them, before... well, slipping them off for the moment.
Not that he meant to stay long, but old habits died hard, and this was Naomi's home.
She could probably easily see it-- those dark rings under his eyes were even darker than before (or was it just that his skin was paler than normal?), and definitely looked like he hadn't shaved in a day or so. Not that that was important at the moment.
He held out the box and satchal for her to take when ready.
"I don't think Adachi has it in him to get that 'hands on' when it comes to killing, but I can't risk it."
Basically Adachi's a huge coward who only killed cause it was bloodless, before.
"And the two of them found a bunch of vials the guards didn't--" Dojima rolled his eyes, his frustration palpable "I swear to god, it's like pulling teeth for the guards to understand how to do simple forensic investigations..."
He didn't have to kick off his shoes, but she appreciated the gesture. Considering poison, cleanliness wasn't a high concern.
With him inside, she closed the door and went back to eyeing the box. If she kept staring at him, she would only enact the plan sooner - and he'd probably catch on before it could be implemented even if he was tired.
"Doubtful, but I'll give you a second opinion anyway."
Taking the box and the satchel (already she raised an eye at the contents), she walked over to her clearest work bench and opened the box. Sure enough, a heart, but she could probably give some people a heads up. "They're mid-century guards. Forensic investigations are far over their heads..."
Meanwhile, she's already inspecting the heart closely.
[The month has been a blur to Kazuma. His memory during the whole Story Eater incident were shaky at best, uncertain of what's reality at worst. The only thing he was sure of is what happened during the Campaign. He adjust his cloak, still caught between himself and his essence's form as he sets down a crate in front of a door to a certain Apothecary.
It was not a request and he did not inform Naomi of his arrival either. It was something of an "apology" for what happened, some ingredients and materials for one that dabbles in potion making would like. He knows it isn't really going to make up for what occurred, but he wouldn't feel right doing nothing.
Once he completed his self-given task, he'll quietly try to slink away before the owner returns. There was nothing that needed to be said afterall.]
[Funny think about dropping off a delivery for her right now... Naomi's been out of her Apothecary helping the Index with water damage and clean up. So, coming back to see him there is a surprise... also, it looks like he's trying to slip away.]
[Ah shit. Couldn't hide that sudden intake of air as he tenses up by her voice. He was so sure he had worked out her routine so that they would never cross paths.] . . . [He clenches his fist, frowning, but keeps eye contact with her.] I was just on my way.
[A few days have passed since the end of campaign, the last campaign apparently. Naomi will receive a message in the journal on a random morning. It's short, only two words written down.]
[She isn't going to get a response. Instead there will be a knock on her door, Hyde(?) waiting for her on the other side. He might stink a little of booze and smoke.]
Forward date. After everyone returns to the Index.
